The Catholic University of Ghana campus at Fiapre came alive with excitement and purpose as the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) marked its 2026 Week celebration with a series of engaging and memorable activities.

The week-long celebration officially commenced on April 19 with a colorful launch that set the tone for what would become an unforgettable experience. Students embarked on a massive candlelight procession, creating a serene yet powerful atmosphere. The day was crowned with an energetic musical night at the hostels’ forecourt, where students showcased unity and school spirit through music and chants.

Activities on the following day began early with a cleanup exercise, which saw students actively participating in environmental sanitation. The exercise stretched from the University’s sports complex through to the administration block, accompanied by trade fair exhibitions.

On April 21, the focus shifted to recreation and entertainment. A ladies’ football tournament brought excitement and friendly competition, while a gospel rock show held later at the quadrangle drew a large audience, blending faith with vibrant musical performances.

The highlight of the week came the next morning with a grand durbar held at Lecture Theatre 1. The event featured a thought-provoking roundtable panel discussion on the theme, “Youth in Leadership: Today’s Opportunity, Tomorrow’s Impact.” The session encouraged active participation, allowing students to engage panelists in a dynamic question-and-answer segment. The durbar was widely regarded as both insightful and inspiring.

Later that day, students enjoyed a relaxed atmosphere during a movie night, alongside ongoing trade fair activities that continued to attract patronage.

Thursday, April 23, saw one of the most anticipated events—a float through the principal streets of Sunyani. The procession drew massive crowds, showcasing the vibrancy of the University community while further promoting the ongoing trade fair.

Momentum carried into Friday with the “Rep Your Jersey” activity, coupled with a thrilling football match between staff and students.

The day climaxed with an electrifying artiste night at the quadrangle. Ghanaian music sensation Lasmid delivered an outstanding performance, captivating students with his hit songs and keeping the crowd energized well into the early hours of the next morning.

Saturday featured the competitive “Aponkye Cup” football tournament and the prestigious Face of CUG/Eminence Awards Night. The awards ceremony honored outstanding students and staff for their dedication and contributions to the University.

The Face of CUG segment celebrated beauty, intelligence, and empowerment, highlighting the talents and confidence of participating contestants.

The week-long celebration came to a meaningful close with a Thanksgiving, reflecting on the successes of the week. The festivities concluded with a final musical session in the evening, bringing students together one last time in a spirited display of unity.

Overall, the 2026 SRC Week celebration at the Catholic University of Ghana was a remarkable blend of leadership, culture, entertainment, and community service, leaving lasting memories and reinforcing the institution’s commitment to holistic student development.
