  • April 19, 2024   Category: Education

The Catholic University of Ghana is brimming with excitement as it gears up for a significant event in its academic calendar – the Students' Representative Council (SRC) Week Celebration. The university is proud to present the Grand Durbar on April 17th, 2024, at 11:30 AM in Lecture Theatre 1 (LT1), a gathering that promises to be a fusion of culture, intellect, and vision for the future.

The theme for this year's celebration, "Fostering Ethical and Effective ICT Usage for Students, Academic and Professional Development in the 21st Century," underscores the importance of information and communications technology (ICT) in the modern educational landscape. This event is part of a broader initiative by the SRC to enhance the student's proficiency in utilizing technology in ways that adhere to ethical standards and propel their academic and professional aspirations.

Leading the charge is an esteemed panel of speakers, each a luminary in their respective fields. Professor Adebayo Felix Adekoya, the Dean of CEMS and a celebrated lecturer at the Catholic University of Ghana is set to provide profound insights into the role of ICT in education. Accompanying him is Reverend Father Mark Owusu, the Dean of Student Affairs and a respected voice in the intersection of ethics and technology.

Highlighting the event is the guest speaker, Dr. Anthony Baidoo. As an Associate Researcher with UMR SENS, France, and a lecturer at the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), Dr. Baidoo brings an international perspective and a wealth of experience in ICT to the table. His current association with CO-BADOOD Hostels lends a practical aspect to his theoretical knowledge, which is bound to inspire the students.

This Grand Durbar is not only a celebration of the university’s commitment to holistic education but also a demonstration to the SRC's dedication to student welfare and progress. The university community and all interested stakeholders are cordially invited to partake in what promises to be an intellectually stimulating and culturally rich event.

As the Catholic University of Ghana continues to pave the way for innovation and excellence, the SRC Week Celebration stands as a beacon of the institution's desire to empower its students to become ethical leaders in the digital age.
