The Catholic University of Ghana to host a groundbreaking conference on emerging trends in technological advancements (2024ICETTA)

In an unprecedented move that highlights the Catholic University of Ghana's commitment to leading the discourse on technological's future and its applications in the country, the institution is gearing up to host a landmark conference on emerging trends in technology advancement (dubbed 2024ICETTA) in November 2024. This initiative, spearheaded by Prof. Daniels Obeng-Ofori, the esteemed Vice Chancellor and Conference Chairperson, with the assistance of Prof. Adebayo Felix Adekoya, the Conference Co-Chairman and Dean of the Faculty of Computing, Engineering & Mathematical Sciences, marks the first event of its kind at the university, promising to set new standards in the academic exploration of cutting-edge technological trends.

At the heart of the conference is a visionary agenda that aims to explore into six critical areas of technological evolution: Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Cybersecurity and Privacy, the Internet of Things (IoT) and Smart Technologies, Big Data Analytics, Blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technologies, and the Digital Transformation and Industry 4.0. These themes are not just at the forefront of technological innovations but are also pivotal in shaping the future of global industries, economies, and societies at large.

Prof. Obeng-Ofori's rallying call to the university community underscored the significance of collective effort and dedication towards the success of this groundbreaking event. He highlighted the conference's potential to be a beacon of technological knowledge and innovation contributions to the country’s national development agenda and therefore encouraged all committee members to embrace their roles with utmost dedication, foresight and commitment towards the realization of the conference objectives. Prof. Adebayo Felix Adekoya, the brainchild behind the conference, provided an insightful overview of its thematic focus, setting the stage for what promises to be a stimulating exchange of ideas and advancements.

The introduction of the main organizing and sub-committees by Mr. Vincent Amakonah, the Conference Secretary further emphasized the collaborative spirit of the conference, ensuring a broad representation of expertise and perspectives within and outside the University. Thereafter, an open forum for questions and discussions was held, allowing for an engaging dialogue among participants and laying the groundwork for a highly interactive and productive conference.

The formal inauguration of the committee members by Prof. Obeng-Ofori and the declaration of commencement of pre-conference activities were symbolic moments that encapsulated the university's ambition to not only contribute to but also shape the discourse on technology's role in the national, continental and global landscape.
