The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) is set to introduce two groundbreaking applications aimed at transforming how Ghanaians manage their utility consumption.

The Catholic University of Ghana, Fiapre, will be the proud host of this significant event, welcoming both staff and students to partake in the advancement of consumer utility management.

Scheduled for Wednesday, 27th of March, 2024, at exactly 1 pm in Lecture Theatre 1 (LT 1), the Commission will unveil the "Tariff Reckoner App" and the "Electricity Consumption Estimator." These applications are designed to arm consumers with the ability to accurately calculate the cost of their electricity and water consumption, ensuring transparency and fairness in the face of the tariff changes that took effect in 2021.

Mark Kofidze, the Head of Academic Affairs of the Catholic University of Ghana, emphasized the importance of embracing these digital tools, stating, "We are at the cusp of a digital revolution in utility management.

These apps from PURC represent a significant leap forward in our quest to empower consumers with detailed insights into their utility usage and costs."

The university encourages all students, staff, and faculty to attend this event, seizing the opportunity to become early adopters of these innovative digital solutions. The interaction is expected to provide a platform for feedback and discussion, highlighting the University’s commitment to incorporating technology into everyday life.

This initiative by PURC, with the support of the Catholic University of Ghana, marks an essential step toward modernizing the management of utility services in Ghana. It underscores the nation's push toward digital literacy and consumer empowerment in the utility sector.

The event is open to all, and attendees are encouraged to spread the word and bring along interested peers. For more information, please contact the University’s Registrar’s office.
