The Catholic University of Ghana is gearing up for an academic spectacle that is poised to engage the intellectual faculties of its student body and the broader academic community. Scheduled for Wednesday, 20th March 2024, the university's inter-faculty debate promises to be an event of keen reasoning and spirited exchanges.

Organized by the Students’ Representative Council, the Students’ Academic Board, and the Debate Club, this event stands as a testament to the university's dedication to cultivating a culture of critical discourse and scholarly inquiry.

With two stirring motions on the agenda, the event is anticipated to attract a robust audience of students, educators, and thought leaders.

The first motion to be debated, concerning the historical and cultural impacts of Western religion on African autonomy, is expected to unveil diverse viewpoints and stimulate a rich dialogue on post-colonial identity and the complexities of cultural integration.

The second motion tackles the sensitive issue of governmental policies concerning LGBTQ+ rights in Ghana, juxtaposed with economic factors influencing political stances, promising a nuanced discussion on ethics, economics, and the role of the state in personal freedoms.

Held at the central Lecture Theatre 1 of the university at 11:30 AM, the debate is an invitation to the university community to engage with challenging ideas and to appreciate the power of argumentation and rhetoric.

As the day of the debate approaches, the atmosphere on campus is one of anticipation, as students prepare to not only witness but also participate in what is set to be a memorable and enlightening experience.

This upcoming event is not just a showcase of the university's academic prowess but also a forum for the impassioned exchange of ideas that mirror the dynamic societal and global conversations of our time.
