The Faculty of Education at the Catholic University of Ghana is passionate about preparing teachers who are knowledgeable, confident, and committed to making a difference. Since it began in the 2007/2008 academic year, the Faculty has worked to strengthen the teaching profession in Ghana by combining strong academic training with practical classroom experience.

Teaching in the Faculty goes beyond theory. Students are guided to understand their subject areas deeply while also learning how to teach in ways that engage, inspire, and support learners. They are trained in lesson planning, classroom management, assessment, and effective communication. At the heart of all programmes is a strong emphasis on values, integrity, excellence, and service - reflecting the Catholic philosophy of education. The Faculty also creates opportunities for practising teachers and school leaders to upgrade their knowledge and skills through postgraduate programmes and professional short courses.

Research in the Faculty focuses on real issues facing schools and educators today. Lecturers and postgraduate students explore topics such as curriculum improvement, educational leadership, counselling, psychology of learning, and the use of technology in education. Their work aims to improve teaching practices, strengthen school management, and contribute practical solutions to challenges within the education system.

In all its work, the Faculty of Education remains committed to developing professional teachers and educational leaders who are not only competent in their field but also guided by strong moral values and a genuine desire to serve society.

Over time, the series has strengthened the Faculty’s research culture and supported continuous professional growth.

The Faculty is also committed to serving society, not only within the University but also beyond it. Through outreach programmes in schools and parishes across Ghana and Nigeria, the Faculty promotes education, builds relationships with communities, and creates awareness about its academic programmes. These initiatives also help identify and encourage prospective students, while reinforcing the Faculty’s image as a socially responsible and community-focused institution.
