Biography
Peter Yaw Oppong-Kumi was born on 9th January 1964 at Beposo, near Wenchi in the Bono Region to Veronica Ama Kumi and Kwaku Gyan. He had his primary and Middle school education at RC Primary and Koase Beposo RC Middle School respectfully. His secondary education took him to St. James Seminary, Sunyani and later to St. Hubert Seminary for his Ordinary and Advanced Level Certificates respectfully. He studied philosophy at St. Paul’s Seminary in Accra and continued with theology and sociology at St. Peter’s Seminary in Cape Coast. He was ordained a priest in 1996. After his ordination he worked as an associate Pastor at Berekum and Fiapre and as an associate secretary at the bishop’s office before he travelled to Germany in the year 2000 to further his studies. In Germany, he obtained his PhD in New Testament at Eberhardt Karl’s University of Tübingen. During the period of his stay in Germany, he worked as associate pastor in various parishes and stations until his return to Ghana February 2012. In that same year he was appointed as Chaplain and Lecturer of Catholic University where he has taught various courses in religion and continues to teach to date.
