Cusanuswerk, a scholarship organization of the German Catholic Church under the auspices of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference and a sister – organization of the Catholic Exchange Service (KAAD) organized a trip to Ghana for some of its scholars.
The group made up of 23 students led by Dr. Manuel Gansar (Chief Commander of the trip to Ghana and Head PHD-Dep./Outgoing Students Department), Fr. Dr. Seigfreid Kleymann (Spiritual Director) and supported by Missio, the Pontifical Mission Society in Aachen visited the Catholic University College of Ghana on Wednesday, February 27th, 2013.
As part of the visit, the group interacted with the Vice-Chancellor – Prof. James H. Ephraim, FGA, the Deans of the various faculties, the Students’ Representative Council and a cross section of the students. Interactions centered on the perspectives of young Catholic academics and their ideas for the future of the University and Ghana.
During their visit they participated in the University Holy Mass organised for the University Community everyday in the week apart from Saturdays; the group visited the Lecture Theatres, Library, Computer Laboratories and other projects undertaken by the University.
While KAAD awards scholarships to foreign students, Cusanuswerk awards scholarships to German scholars who are academically good and play active roles in the church and civil society.
Essential part of the promotion of Cusanuswerk is a comprehensive, interdisciplinary scale education program that aims to strengthen the discussion of science and faith, society and the church responsibility and capacity for dialogue of scholars.
