The Vice-Chancellor of the Catholic University College of Ghana, Fiapre, Professor Daniels Obeng-Ofori, at the weekend, assured CUCG Alumni of his vision to revitalize, rebrand and reposition the University College to attain the recognition it deserves among the best universities locally and internationally.
The Vice-Chancellor was emphatic that the Catholic Brand is Divine and nothing can change the fortunes of the institution in delivering on its mandate. The Catholic Brand, he indicated, is the divine holistic and integrated Catholic education where moral discipline underpins knowledge.
Prof. Obeng-Ofori made the statement when CUCG Alumni Group called on him at the weekend on campus, Sunyani, as part of activities that marked the Homecoming celebrations.
"We are very much poised to make CUCG a student-centered academic institution through the provision of quality and effective customer care services," he remarked.
The Vice-Chancellor enumerated a number of action-based strategies and measures aimed at revitalizing, rebranding and repositioning CUCG in the next couple of years.
Notable among the strategies mentioned included staff development, introduction of new certificate-diploma-degree programmes, promotion of staff, quality assurance, intensify research publications, improvement in student support services, prudent financial management system, setting up of campus FM station, and improvement in ICT infrastructure among others.
Prof. Obeng-Ofori indicated that CUCG was preparing feverishly to apply for a Presidential Chatter. This, he said, would enable the institution to effectively plan, reduce cost of running programmes and ensure prompt delivery of required services to students and other stakeholders alike.
He stated that efforts were underway to change the existing classroom furniture, projectors and other supporting equipment to enhance effective teaching and learning. To this effect, the University College was to source for funding from all its benefactors including alumni and its business partners.
The Vice-Chancellor was very emphatic on exploring more effective measures and strategies to market, publicize and make the University College become a household name in the country and beyond. He requested the support of CUCG Alumni to use the various social media platforms to positively impact on the fortunes of the Catholic University College to improve student enrollment.
The immediate past Chairperson of the 2017 Alumni Homecoming Planning Committee, Ms. Patricia Akosua Effah Kwartemaa, on behalf of the Alumni, assured Prof. Obeng-Ofori of the Association's unflinching support and resolve to partner the University College in the revitalization, rebranding and repositioning agenda for the common good of the institution.
