The Contribution of Private School in Funding Education in Ghana
Private schools in Ghana have, over the years, been contributing greatly to the education sector of the country. The Association of Private schools in Ghana has become a force to reckon with in terms of providing training and holistic education for the teaming infants, adolescents and adults in the primary, secondary and tertiary levels. A National Conference is held every year by the Ghana National Association of Private School (GNAPS)since it was established.
The Conference of this year, marked the 25th National Conference of the Private School Association and was held at the Catholic University College of Ghana, Fiapre-Sunyani(CUCG) from the 15th to 18th August, 2016. The Conference was organized under the theme: The Contribution of Private School in Funding Education in Ghana. Prof. Daniels Obeng-Ofori, the Vice-Chancellor of Catholic University College of Ghana, Sunayni - Fiapre, encouraged the participants at the 25th National Conference
of the Ghana National Association of Private School (GNAPS) to manage their time wisely, have the spirit of innovativeness and give special care to women and children.
He also acknowledged that CUCG is, in de facto, a member of the association and is ready to support the Association anytime it is called upon.
The Special Guest of Honour, Nana Bofotia Boamponsem II (Kontinhene of the Sunyani Traditional Council), in his address, advised the teachers to train the children with novelty to impart knowledge and nurture productive mindset of people to be able to develop and create things for themselves, by themselves and not depend solely on government for jobs.
Other dignitaries present included Mr. Samuel Larbi (Representing the Regional Director of Education) and Mrs. Veronica Adu Saforo (Sunyani West District Director of Education)..
