The Catholic University College of Ghana, Fiapre-Sunyani has presented academic awards to best graduating students of the Class of November, 2016 in a short ceremony at the University Campus. Felix Acquah received the Over-All Best Graduating Graduate student award. He graduated with a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.9 in Post-Graduate Diploma in Education programme. Mercy Adutwumwaa was awarded the Over-All Best Graduating Undergraduate student. She also graduated with a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.9 in B.Ed. Geography.

 Isaac Myska Barnes received the prize of being the Best student in the Faculty of Information and Communication Sciences and Technology (ICST).

Besides, Maryann Nwakaego Ononiwu, a Nigerian, was awarded the Best Student prize in the Faculty of Public Health and Allied Sciences (PHAS) Bernice Tawiah Owusu was also given the prize of being the Best Student in the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration (E&BA) Michael Osei Abrefa won the Best Student in the Faculty of Religious Studies (RS) prize.

In addition, Mercy Adutwumwaa received the award for the Best Student in the Faculty of Education (EDU).

Three students won sponsored awards:
a) CIT SYS’ Prize for Best Graduating Student in B.Sc. Computer Science went to Vincent Opare.
b) Ecobank’s Undergraduate Award for Best Graduating Student in B.Sc. Banking & Finance to Anita Talata Chigabatia.
c) QIC’s Prize for Best Graduating Student in B.Sc. Actuarial Science was awarded to Isaac Myska Barnes.

The Vice Chancellor, Professor Daniels Obeng-Ofori, commended the awardees for their academic excellence and dedication to the purpose for which they enrolled at the University College. Prof. Obeng-Ofori was full of smiles as he presented the various prizes for the categories of awards conferred on them. Each student received a certificate of recognition and an undisclosed amount of money in an envelope.

Speaking on behalf of her colleagues, Ms. Bernice Tawiah Owusu, was full of joy and expressed their satisfaction of the awards given them in recognition of their academic performance. Ms. Bernice noted that the awards would intrinsically energize them more to give their best and contribute positively to the good image of the University College in whatever capacities they find themselves in their new pursuits. She thanked the staff of the University College for their dedication, mentorship and support during their education. The awardees assured the Vice-Chancellor of their support in building a strong and enviable Catholic University College.

It could be recalled that during the 14th Congregation of the Catholic University College in November, 2016, academic awards for best performances were conferred on a couple of students for individual achievement in the various faculties. Present at the short ceremony included the Registrar, Mr. Kofi Asuman and the Deputy Registrar, Mr. Emmanuel K. Kaba. The programme was attended by a host of renowned personalities in academia, industry, the clergy Nananom including parents.
