The Catholic University College of Ghana, Fiapre is currently organizing an eight-week training programme for participants drawn from institutions on Safeguarding of Minors. This certificate programme is being organized and offered by the Faculty of Religious Studies of the Catholic University College of Ghana (CUCG) in collaboration with the Centre for Child Protection (CCP) of the Pontifical Gregorian University, Rome, and will include the units from CCP E-learning programme.
This eight-week long academic training course is meant for the acquisition of specialized knowledge and skills for the protection of sexual abuses of minors. The course is aimed at educating those who work or hope to work in the field of child protection (protection officers, advisors, trainers…) to adequately deal with sexual abuses of minors. The end objective is to manage, control and minimize the tendencies that facilitate abuse of minors in our society. The facilitators of this programme are Fr. Dr. Charles Bruno Kabir (OFMConv), Fr. Dr. Peter Oppong-Kumi, Fr. Dr. Paul Attah- Nsiah, Dr. Anthony Bonnah Koomson and Bro. Augustine Kubdaar(FIC)The programme addresses the following main points:
Recognizing Signs of abuse
Identifying Means of Interventions
Assisting and Caring for Victims/Survivors
Developing Preventive programmes.
The programme has just began this June at CUCG and will end on 31st July 2016
