The Ghana Catholic Bishops' Conference (GCBC) launched a 20 million-cedi Endowment Fund for Catholic University College of Ghana, Fiapre (CUCG) to enhance the financial health of the University College. Performing the launch at Christ the King Parish Hall on 18th May, 2018, Mr Albert Essien, the Board Chairman of Ghana Home Loans who was the special guest of honour for the occasion encouraged all stakeholders to invest in the education of the future generation.

He advised CUCG to explore alternative sources of funding to enhance the financial viability of the University College. He appealed to individuals and Cooperate Bodies to partner the University in the provision of facilities to enhance teaching and learning. Such individuals or entities could be honoured by naming such facilities after them. He donated $20,000 as his personal contribution to the fund.

The President of the GCBC, Most Rev. Philip Naameh, Metropolitan Archbishop of Tamale, indicated that the main objective of the Conference was to support the University College for it to be granted Presidential Charter to empower it to provide affordable and accessible quality tertiary education ion Ghana and beyond.

The Vice-Chancellor of CUCG, Professor Daniel Obeng-Ofori expressed his gratitude to the GCBC for their commitment to launch the fund and assured the benefactors that part of the proceeds of the fund would be used to create the necessary academic environment that supports quality teaching and learning. He further hinted that the University College was poised to roll out a number of value added programmes as part of its mandate to show academic leadership.

He assured the general public that as part of the University's Catholic Character, plans were far advanced to provide scholarships to support deserving staff, students and prospective applicants who would like to further their studies at CUCG. It was attended by members of the GCBC, Priests and Religious, Catholic faithful as well as staff, students, alumni, friends and other key stakeholders of the University College.
